There was a man who said, "I've got walking shoes to go power walking, running shoes to go jogging, cross-training shoes for working out...(sigh), now if I only had motivation shoes."
I wonder if we, as Christians don't have a similar problem. We have everything we need to grow strong and healthy spiritual lives, but it seems we sometimes lack the motivation to do the things that help us grow strong in the Lord. Paul admonished the Ephesians to "be strong in the Lord and the power of His might" (Eph.6:10).
We know that God's Word gives us strength, (Heb.4:12), prayer helps us relieve the stress in our lives, (Rom.8:26,27), and having fellowship and worshiping with our fellow Christians uplifts our spirit (I Thess.5:11); yet, we avoid studying God's Word and neglect prayer and forsake the assembly. So how do we motivate ourselves to continue in doing the things that will cause us to grow to be strong Christians? I think it is a matter of your heart.
If we are able to remember the sacrifice Christ made in order to save us, our love for Him will motivate us (John 3:16,17) Let us "hunger and thirst after rightiousness" abd we will grow strong and healthy (Matt.5:6 and I Tim.4:8-16).
